some initial thoughts from evaluation

The Forming Ideas programme aims to broaden and strengthen the debate around contemporary craft practice, offering curators the opportunity to establish sustainable national and international networks and nurturing working partnerships that will lead to future collaborative projects. Feedback from the
Cairo and Nordic cohorts suggests that the visits have been very successful in the short term, creating new connections and prompting new understanding and ideas amongst participants.
The Cairo symposium was perhaps less well attended than hoped, particularly by those representing the fine art sector, and although there are some examples now emerging of projects being sparked by the visits, there is less hard evidence at this stage around the impact of the visits on actual new project activity and dissemination to a wider audience. It would be interesting to know if there are further projects now emerging from the Cairo visit and to give further thought as to how follow-up initiatives and projects can be supported and encouraged.  It would also be good to give further consideration as to how new knowledge might best be disseminated.  Please do respond with your thoughts on these reflections and questions.
