- Melanie Kidd is Head of Exhibitions at the Hub: National Centre for Craft & Design (Lincolnshire, UK) and responsible for the strategic development of the Hub’s creative programme. The venue stages 11 exhibitions per year within the two gallery spaces and has recently initiated an international touring
programme.
As well as a strong interest in contemporary craft and design practice (including fashion and architecture), Melanie is a passionate undergraduate in Fine Art with a continuing fascination of the blurring of boundaries between these disciplines. In addition to a broad knowledge of contemporary art practice she is motivated to use strong interdisciplinary skills within the museum and gallery fields.
Along with selecting the most significant and challenging examples of international craft and design practice for the Hub’s exhibition programme, Melanie is keen to present exhibitions with a social and political relevance, and to contextualize craft and design practice within popular culture and social history. Recent and current projects include: The Beautiful People: Boutique Fashion from 66-76, David Hillman in Print, Bathing Beauties: re-imagining the beach hut for the 21st Century and Denim: the fabric of our lives.
