Career Path
Mir Jansen is Programme Manager at Yorkshire ArtSpace Society, an organisation which provides affordable quality workspaces for visual artists and makers. Based in the purpose built artists’ studio complex, Persistence Works, it was designed by Stirling Prize winning architects Feilden, Clegg, Bradley and is situated in the centre of Sheffield. YAS offers the ‘Starter Studio Programme for Designer Silversmiths’ which provides access to a fully equipped shared workspace and tailored business skills training programme as well as exhibition, commission and paid work opportunities and ongoing mentor and technical support for two years within Persistence Works. The Artist in Residence Programme offers selected artists time, space and money to research and develop ideas or new bodies of work. In addition YAS also runs an exhibition programme in the foyer area of Persistence Works, as well as school and community projects, and is in the process of developing an international residency programme. YAS is currently expanding workspace provision and is in the process of building two new artists’ studio complexes in other areas of the city, due for completion in late 2010.
