- Neil Walker is Visual Arts Officer at Djanogly Art Gallery, Lakeside Arts
Centre and responsible for the research, development and implementation of
the programme of contemporary and historic fine art exhibitions. He also
organises the complementary programme of education/outreach activities
targeted at the general public and education sector.
He has established and developed the Lustre Contemporary Craft Makers'
Market at Lakeside which is fast becoming recognised by makers and public alike as second only to the Crafts Council's Origin market. This annual event includes a platform for recent graduates from midlands' universities.
His background is more specifically in fine arts than decorative arts. Previously he was curator at Nottingham Castle Museum and Art Gallery and was instrumental in establishing the partnership with the Contemporary Art Society on the Lottery funded Special Collections Scheme.
His particular interests in the Forming Ideas trip coincide with plans
for a programme of events as part of Nottingham's bid for Design Capital
2012.
