History

Career Path: Rachel Moses runs Design-Nation a not for profit organisation that promotes the excellence of British craft and design and provides business advice to recent graduates. Design-Nation is part of London Metropolitan University. Design-Nation runs an online directory and associated catalogue of over 150 designers based all over the UK and working in five disciplines including ceramics, glass, furniture, textiles, jewellery and silversmithing. Additionally the organisation provides tailored opportunities for the members, from group exhibitions and facilitating overseas research visits. Design-Nation also publishes Business Start-Up Guide, which is now in its 4th Edition. Rachel is currently writing the Creative Business Seminar Programme, intended to bring the Guide to life as a series of practical sessions. Rachel is interested in projects that cross the art/design/craft divisions and create opportunities for designers to make new or significant pieces of work, she also wants to explore the benefits of digital manufacturing for craftspeople. Rachel sits on Design Partners, the joint industry/government body which works to increase the UK’s international design business.
